Thursday August 11th was a long and tough day for me. I had to wake up at 6, and my morning and afternoon was dealing with transporting a stage (via UHaul truck) and setting it up/dismantling. This was all for my day job, working with Emee. I was pretty exhausted when I got home, but I had to lead a bike ride. I lay down for a few minutes, packed my bike, and rode over to Frazer Park (thankfully close by) to meet the other riders for this month’s Sunset/Moonrise Ride.
There was about two dozen folks assembled. It was a breezy three and a half mile ride to Cully Park, the usual observatory spot. This time we actually made it in time to watch the sunset, but as Emee says, “the moonrise is the big deal”. The moon crested the eastern horizon around 9 PM, big and blood red. The night was nice and mild, so people were compelled to stick around for a bit. And then, the dispersement.
This will probably be the last Sunset/Moonrise Ride of 2022. September is definitely a good month, but I’ll be working an event that day that will go even longer than the one I did in August. (And even if it was the same length, I doubt I’d repeat what happened this month!) And on the full moon in October I have other plans. See you in 2023!
