Hey folks! It’s going to be a nice day here in Portland, good weather for watching a moonrise. Bonus: Tonight is a Supermoon, and the “biggest” moon of the year! (The moon of course isn’t actually larger, it just appears that way.) Why not ride with us tonight?
Here are the full details:
Wednesday July 13th, 7:45 PM
Sunset/Moonrise Ride
Meet at Mt. Hood MAX Station (Red Line, near airport)
Did you know that on the night of the full moon, sunset is usually right before the moon rise? Let’s hit up a spot where we can watch both!
Stock up on snacks and libations before meeting up, then depart on an under 5 mile to our mystery destination. Ride not a loop. Lights, layers, and a picnic blanket are good ideas
Please note: THERE IS NO STORE STOP. There’s a Target right at the MAX station, supply up here if you need to, but don’t expect us to wait for you if you “need stuff” and arrive when we’re ready to leave. Also: RIDE NOT A LOOP, we end where we stop. If you need help getting back to the start, let me know. This end spot is a couple miles from transit, so be aware. There may not be be true restrooms where we end, so keep that in mind as well.
Sunset 8:58 PM, moonrise 9: 41 PM. This is quite the gap, and you can get cold. Plan accordingly. And if you really want to see the moon rise, don’t plan on leaving before 10:15 PM.
