Hey folks! Since I will be in town for full moon on Wednesday July 13th after all, I’ve decided to add another Sunset/Moonrise Ride to the calendar! Here are the full details:
Wednesday July 13th, 7:45 PM
Sunset/Moonrise Ride
Meet at Mt. Hood MAX Station (Red Line, near airport)
Did you know that on the night of the full moon, sunset is usually right before the moon rise? Let’s hit up a spot where we can watch both!
Stock up on snacks and libations before meeting up, then depart on an under 5 mile to our mystery destination. Ride not a loop. Lights, layers, and a picnic blanket are good ideas
Please note: THERE IS NO STORE STOP. There’s a Target right at the MAX station, supply up here if you need to, but don’t expect us to wait for you if you “need stuff” and arrive when we’re ready to leave. Also: RIDE NOT A LOOP, we end where we stop. If you need help getting back to the start, let me know. This end spot is a couple miles from transit, so be aware. There may not be be true restrooms where we end, so keep that in mind as well.
And most importantly: THIS IS A GOOD CONDITIONS RIDE. Clouds, rain, smoke, and excessive heat may cancel the ride. Check the Shift calendar on the day of ride for confirmation.
Sunset 8:58 PM, moonrise 9: 41 PM. This is quite the gap, and you can get cold. Plan accordingly. And if you really want to see the moon rise, don’t plan on leaving before 10:15 PM.

And here are my other Pedalpalooza rides for July and August:

- Monday July 11, 5:30 PM: Old Libraries Ride: N/NE. A 10 mile ride to check out buildings that were once Multnomah County Library Branches. Concentrates on N/NE, ends near St. Johns.
- Thursday August 11, 7 PM: Sunset Moonrise Ride. Meet at Frazer Park. Sunset 8:24 PM, moonrise 8:52 PM.
- Saturday August 13, 10 AM: Creek Country Ramblers–Headwaters and hidden places. A 25 mile ramble exploring Johnson Creek and the streams that flow into it.
Oh yeah, I still need to reschedule my Dead Freeways Ride. I plan on having it in September. Stay tuned for details.
