A proper midnight bike ride — 2nd Friday means MMR. I make it to a fair number of Midnight Mystery Rides throughout the year, though my motivation usually wanes in the winter months. This night was unusually warm and dry, the start location wasn’t far from home, and I had the motivation of this challenge to egg me on, so I saddled up and rode out into the night.

From the start location at Piccolo Park we wound through inner southeast, including a few ride-bys of Portland Winter Light Festival installations along the way. We took a break at Buckman Elementary’s park/playground, then took off again through the Central Eastside and into downtown. I actually enjoy downtown…
