Hey folks! Just reminding y’all that my Stark Street Mileposts Ride is this Saturday, December 11th, at 11 AM. And there’s still spots available!
Sometime in the middle 19th century, stone mile markers were placed along the length of what became SE Stark St. From the Willamette to the Sandy River, these milestones helped travelers navigate what was once a wild area. Over the years these markers were largely forgotten, yet miraculously over half still remain! We’ll take a leisurely bike tour to see the markers that still remain from MP2 to MP7. Ride is not a loop but will end near the SE 122nd MAX Station on the Blue Line. After the ride ends there will be an option for interested folks to get food and libations.
As for weather: Well, it’s not looking that great. I’m going to stick to the plan so long as the rain stays moderate to light. Some forecasts are calling for stormy/windy, and I’ll probably cancel if that’s what’s going to happen. I’ll keep you updated, and send out another email to registrants Friday afternoon/early evening to update.
As with (pretty much) all my rides these days, the ride is capped at 24 participants. You’ll need to register via Eventbrite (free), and after you register you’ll get the start location (which is in the vicinity of E Burnside and 28th). Register here.
