As per my tradition since New Year’s 2007 (wow, almost a decade!) I leave Portland for the holiday. It started as a way to avoid going to another blah New Year’s party here in town (or avoid attempting to find said blah holiday party). But I’ve liked the idea of getting out of town for the new year, away from distractions. It puts a fresh perspective on things. And it’s a mini-holiday when I need one the most.
This year I’m going up to Seattle. I went up there for New Year’s 2014 as well. Initially I wanted to go to the Bay Area but I wasn’t going to get enough time off work to make it work. Hopefully I’ll get an opportunity later this winter. But four days in Seattle will be good! Of course I’ll bring my bike along, especially since it’s so easy with Amtrak Cascades service. I’ll mostly ramble around town, though I will be hooking up with folks as well.
Are you in Seattle? Want to hang out? Know of something cool happening? I’ll be in town from Tuesday December 29 through Friday January 1. Drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a comment!
