Hello friends. Pardon the cobwebs. I haven’t really posted in a couple weeks for a couple reasons. The first is that there hasn’t been much going on bikewise here. Short days and a five day work week mean little time for fun rides, plus we’ve had a good spate of wet weather. But more importantly, I’ve been busy with other things, notably wrapping up the editing of the Sixth and final edition of the Zinester’s Guide to Portland, plus getting ready for Bike Craft this coming weekend.
But! There have been a couple significant things to report.
First off, I’ve had fellow native Connecticuter Marc in town, crashing in my luxurious Woodlawn digs. Marc just wrapped up a late-season (left the east coast mid-August) cross-country bike tour and has the beard to prove it. He’s up in Seattle for a few days before he flies back home.
Check out Marc’s blog, Pedal, Pedal here. Also photos here and here.
And Rivelo, Portland’s favorite Rivendell and Bob Dylan album outpost, had an open house on Saturday. And they invited Mr. Retro-Grouch himself, Grant Petersen, up for the festivities. It was mostly a couple hours of ogling the goods, though I did manage to get a few words in with him as well.
Ok! Soon I will be over deadlines and have a chance to ride a bike for fun again. Can’t wait!
