A brief recap of last week’s not-really-Three Speed Camping Trip

Last week was my first attempt at organizing a three speed camping trip here in Portland. But if you read my post over on Society of Three Speeds, you’ll know that ye olde Raleigh Wayfarer was having “issues”, so I ended up taking my brand-new Bantam Rambleneur. Yes, I failed!

But thankfully Steve brought an honest to goodness three speed, a root beer brown Raleigh Sports. And Tim brought his Miyata 310 5-speed hub conversion. So we were mostly there.

It was a grand time. The weather was nice, the riding easy. We rode out to Ainsworth State Park on Tuesday August 25th and camped in one of the wooded walk in spots. On Wednesday the 26th we rode our unladen bikes eastward along the now-complete Historic Columbia River Highway bike path to Cascade Locks for lunch, then over to Stevenson for some beer and then camped again at Ainsworth. On Thursday we returned. And we didn’t kill each other!

Pictures speak louder than words, so check out this visual documentary of the trip.
