Hello folks! It’s getting to be that time of year again, time for the National Train Day Ride! I had scads of fun co-leading this thing last year. And once again I’m co-leading with Dan from Cafe Unknown and Sir Andrew. It’s going to be shorter this year, and loop around the central city. Here are the details!
NATIONAL TRAIN DAY 2014
Saturday May 10, 11 am to 3 pm
Union Station, 800 NW 6th Ave, Portland (Meet by stone obelisk in front of station, at corner of 6th & Irving)
Experience how Portland history has been shaped by rails. This 10-15 mile ride is a joint project of Urban Adventure League, Dan Haneckow of Cafe Unknown, and Sir Andrew. How do people get back to their cars if it is not a loop? I have a two year old and am 8 months pregnant so trekking back from the eastside seems a little nuts. Thanks!
The Eastbank Esplanade trail easily connects the rail museum to Union Station. And we encourage people to either bicycle or take public transit to the start point. We don’t take parking considerations into account.
