I was out of town for new years. I spent it in Bingen, Washington, a very small town 70 miles east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge. While small and lacking in stuff, Bingen had three very important things going for it: an Amtrak stop (on the Empire Builder), a hostel (The Bingen Schoolhouse Inn) and solitude. I wanted to be away from distractions for a couple days so I could just concentrate on drawing. And it worked! I got a good amount of art done and learned some important things (don’t ever drink Boone’s Farm).
